Similies + Metaphors + Personification = Figurative Language

Metaphors:


1. Love is a journey; it’s been a long, bumpy road.

2. Hate is a powerful word; it can knock you down till you have the courage to get back up.

3. Life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get.

4. A friend is a heart: you can’t live without it



Similes:

1. Community meetings are as boring as a fish tank.

2. Passes are like dry diapers on a baby’s bottom. (A Relief)

3. The gym is like heaven for the basketball players.

4. My house is as loud as the sports arena on a game day.



Personification:

1. The moon glares gracefully in the sky.

2. The flower swayed back and forth in the wind.

3. The phone awakened with a mighty ring.

4. The car screeched for attention.
