[Sianna sighs and is acing back and forth.]



“Look Macayla, I don’t know if you know whats going on but this place we call home isn’t a home”



Nariaha



[Macayla bounces up and down on the bed in a sweet voice]



“What do you mean it’s not a home. Mommy says it’s our home”



Sianna



[Raises her voice in an angry way]



“She is not our mother she’s just a play mom”

Nariaha



[Curls her hair around her fingers]



“What’s a play mom? Is it like a barbie doll mommy”.



Sianna



“ You have to know the truth, she’s our foster mom”



Nariaha



[Sweet Voice]



“What’s a foster mom?”



Sianna



[optional: stage directions]



“Shh, not so loud or she’ll hear us”

Nariaha



[Antsy and speaks in a louder sweet voice]



“WHAT’S A FOSTER MOM!”



Sianna



“ Fine, a foster mom is when some other lady comes to take care of us and and they lie to us and tell us they are our mom’s and they really aren’t”



Nariaha

“So you she’s a fake mommy?”

“Well you can say that”

CST Testing Reflection

For the last 3 days our school has been taking the cst test’s. Monday was English, Tuesday was Math, and Wednesday was History. I’m not sure but I think that I’m taking Science on Thursday. I can’t stay focus if I’m sitting down for to long so during the tests I was very antsy. I don’t like that because I feel that the teachers will show me extra attention which isn’t what I want. If I didn’t know an answer to the question I would take an educated guess. Hopefully this doesn’t place us in our classes for next year because if so I will be placed in very low classes.

Testing Tips, Strategies, and Plays Reflection

Having testing tips before a test is always an advantage. Testing plays or tips help you stay calm before the test, have confidence and help you solve out problems you are stuck on. Having testing tips doesn’t mean your stupid or you need extra help. It’s something will not just help you as a student in high school, but getting in the habit of memorizing will help you as a college student. Testing tips will help you even if you’re an adult because everyone needs help at some point in time. Tests aren’t mean to be easy but they are if you study your hardest. Knowing as many solutions as possible is only for the best for you.

I don't get life

Sometimes I question why life has to be so hard. Like if it was easy no one would ever have to stress, tears will never have to be shed and anger wouldn’t be an issue. People say god did this for a reason but in my opinion why would you want to make us go through this? You say it’s so we learn and live out our problems. Well my problems are learning me like no one has before and tearing my world apart. I understand why kids commit suicide. Life is hard and they feel like they are alone. It’s pretty sad that some one so powerful such as god is making us go through this! Deep inside I cry out for help. I don’t know what else to do. Therapy, medication,”friends” but nothing seems to help. Maybe if I wasn’t so nice and caring people wouldn’t do me wrong. Who knows but it’s my turn to find out!

My Feelings about the Upcoming CSTs

Taking the California Standardized Tests makes me antsy and nervous. For example, I get nervous that I will not past the test and everyone will make a joke saying I’m not smart. I also get antsy while taking test because I feel when everyone is finished before me that I have to rush through it. I worry about not passing the test more than focusing on getting the answers right. I believe that these upcoming tests are just to place our school in the ranks of smart and smarter. If our school doesn’t get a high place I don’t care because I know we have plenty of bright students and kids who have major talent. I feel that test is pointless if you constantly have to feel like you’re not smart enough to pass it. I’m scared and I will procrastinate during my test like I do any other test.

Free Write Blog Post

This weekend was the SPAfest. Friday I practiced from 1:30- 4:30 and found out that everybody in the talent show had to help set up after practice. Only five people helped set up including me. After placing tables and chairs all over campus I still had to come home and make a dessert. Marcus, Becky and I made rice crispy treats and then made two whole bowls for ourselves. Saturday morning I woke up at 8:30 to go get my nails done and find the finishing touches for my dance crews outfits. I came back and got ready with Tierra and Becky. Then our families started to arrive and we all introduced each other. We went to the talent show and my dance group went last. If it was a competition our group would have won it all. We got so many compliments as a group and individually. After the talent show I introduced my boyfriend Marcus  to my dad. They had talked over the phone before and my dad was really happy I found someone like him. Marcus, my family and I all played relay races with eggs, whip cream, pillow cases water balloons, and lot’s more. After family day was over I took a shower hung out with Marcus. There was a dance but Marcus and I did not go because we were super exhausted. After Marcus went home I went right to bed and slept like a baby.

Playwrights Project Inspired by Music Paragraph

In class today we created three different starts to a play. At first, I couldn’t think of anything to write about. While listening to music I closed my eyes and wrote down the first thing that came to mind. While I was writing I had plenty of ideas that I couldn’t choose all of them. I wanted to be creative and choose three different ones. One was about love, horror, and a mystery death. Afterward I felt like I could keep writing and never get tired of it. I wanted to write the ending to all three of my plays but we didn’t have time. Hopefully when we start to write our play mine is the winner of the playwrights contest and I can feel proud of something I’ve done in my life.

UnGoogleable Research Paper Website Selection Reflection

Today my classmates and I found above grade level websites for our research paper. To search for websites I made sure that I broke down my focus questions as many ways as possible to find lots of different websites. When I found a website related to my focus question, I made sure it was a website that was created by a professor or college student. I made sure there were no advertisements, less opinions and more facts. I knew some of the websites I found were unacceptable because it didn’t have a date or an author and anyone could have updated that website and I wouldn’t have accurate information, I know the websites I selected are good because I made sure it was at least at grade level websites to complete my class work. Tomorrow, I expect that Ms.Priester will tell me to start thinking of how I will write my research paper.

Third Quarter Awards Review

Today we had an Award assembly for students who got good grades for the quarter. If you got a 3.0 GPA you won and award and $25.If you got a 3.5-3.9 GPA you won an award and $75. Last but not least, if you had a 4.0 GPA you won $100. Only three kids won $100 for there good grades which was Amy, Jojo and Sam. For the third quarter progress reports I had a 3.0 GPA but when it came to report cards I let two of my grades slip. Next quarter I’m trying to get at least a 3.5 for progress reports and report cards. I felt surprised when I saw a couple of kids who I never would have thought had good grades receive awards which made me want to work hard in school. I hope to end the fourth quarter on a good note with my grades so I don’t have to take a lot of summer school classes.

My focus question is “What are the advantages and disadvantages of being in the foster care system? “. I already know that not having your birth parents is a big disadvantage for foster youth. I also know that foster youth are known for “Juvenile Delinquents”. Additionally, most of the kids are traumatized by their past and end up with ADHD. By doing research, I hope to learn if foster youth isn’t such a bad thing after all. I understand the negative parts about being a foster kid but there has to be some positive to get you where you are today.

"Switch" Play Audience Member Experience

Today the sophomores and juniors went on a field trip to see a play called “Switch”. In my eyes I felt that the play was about not just having a group home or a foster home to go to but, a loving home. As a foster kid you tend to go to many different schools and can’t find a safe, loving, and caring home. Today I learned that lots of people don’t know what it’s like to be a foster kid but they feel the pain we go through just imagining what it would be like to lose their kids.

I chose to write about Disadvantages and Advantages of living in the foster care system. I interviewed Kristen Clabo. She said she would use a website from a scientific journal to find information for a research paper. I interviewed Victoria Skordilis. She said she would read who created the website and the date of the information posted on the website for information on a research paper.  I interviewed Abby Morton. She said she would make sure it was a website that wasn’t editable by the public and only the person who updated it. For example, wikipedia is something she would use.  This advice will help me write my research paper because I know how and where to find the type of information I need.

Dear Mom and Dad,




It’s been four whole years since I’ve seen you. Time blew by right down the road. Your scent still lingers around me as if you are where we first started to become happy. You and daddy may be gone, but I know somewhere you guys have sent your love from above. Who knew what would happen in that car. I buy flowers every year on the day of you guys death and nothing can ever stop me. Just wait for me; I’ll be there any day now. I write letters put them in balloons to see if can hear me calling upon you. It seems like everyday the weather is down with you here. I pray to god that the day I see you again will be the right way. I feel your presence upon me as I sleep at night. Daddy, I still wear your sweater before bedtime and mom I still feel weak without you here. I look myself in the mirror and tell myself “You are so beautiful”. I hope you know I love you guys.

Fourth Quarter Kickoff

When the day started off we watched a movie that I had no idea what it was about. I fell asleep like twice but woke up because everyone was laughing really loud so I just strayed awake. We then went to lunch afterwards and we had pizza. I didn't eat because both first and second lunches were mixed together which made the line even longer. I ate fat ball reduced Oreos which were very gross but I ate it because I was hungry. After lunch, my team and I were suppose to play softball but the softball field was flooded so we played "Wiffel ball". I didn't play because I just took up space so that I could get credit for the day. After "Wiffel Ball" My team and I played " Capture the flag". I decided to play this game also but I stopped because I got hit in the face. The last game I barely played but I still got credit. I went home then to practice.
